Antica Osteria Ponte Sisto

The Osteria Ponte Sisto has been serving customers since 1928 and is located in Trastevere, a charming corner of Rome across the Tiber River. The restaurant is steps away from the picturesque Ponte Sisto bridge and easy walking distance from Piazza Navona, the Campo dei Fiori, and the leafy Janiculum Hill. Thanks to its owner and chef Oliviero, the Osteria Ponte Sisto has become famous for its delicious, freshly cooked Roman cuisine, its Neapolitan seafood, and its well-stocked wine cellar.  Oliviero and his attentive and welcoming staff will make you feel as if you are one of the family. It is a restaurant not to be missed.

Le Specialità

Try it! From a simple tagliata di costa danese con sale grosso e rosmarino to the “majesty” of a maialino da latte porchettato, to typical Roman dishes such as saltimbocca, coda alla vaccinara (perfect in winter), veal straccetti or… trippa col pecorino e la mentuccia. We buy fresh meat daily, and our menu changes with the seasons and in some cases monthly. During hot summer days we offer lighter meals you will never forget…

Trastevere (the word means: across the Tiber) has been a popular haunt in Rome since ancient times. Some even say that the proud and independent Trasteverini represent the most authentic remnant of Old Rome. The area has always been distinguished by artisans’ workshops and a cosmopolitan atmosphere and is now a very fashionable place to live. Over the last 15 years, Oliviero has mixed traditional Roman cuisine with the Neapolitan specialties of his parents for diners at the Osteria Ponte Sisto.

We specialize in fresh fish selected daily from the catch of the day: Lattarini infarinati e fritti with zucchini in pastella? Polpo bollito con cuore di sedano e olive di Gaeta… or moscardini and frutti di mare? Our fish pastas are special favorites: pappardelle mare e monti, gnocchi estivi con erba cipollina, aragosta and pachino tomatoes, passate di ceci o lenticchie, and home-made maltagliati.  And more: spigole, dentici, gamberoni, calamari, pesce azzurro, Sicilian fresh tuna, and swordfish.
